what i’m working on

Road Trip (a collection of essays, short stories, and almost-poems; my current writing project)

What Would Water Do (a finished, unpublished novel)

Nothing Sacred  (a pretty good second draft of an unpublished novel)

Friends with Crows (an unpublished collection of personal essays in which I use my attempts to befriend crows as a flimsy excuse to talk about myself, my family, and what it feels like to live in our neighborhood of Berkeley, California)

On this site you’ll find some serious and some casual writing, almost-poems, short stories, and observations about the things with which I am currently obsessed.  I plan on posting once a week.

I’m still looking for an agent and/or publisher: *ahem*

  1. Try looking into Smashwords for online publishing. It is not an epublisher in the conventional sense. But if you follow their guidelines you can get some of your work out there. It is not a vanity press either. No money is involved from your end. https://www.smashwords.com/
    Keep up the good work.

Hi Girl in the Hat, I’ll add you to my blogroll for sure. I wish you the absolute best luck with getting your works published. I’m not FINISHED!! So I admire you that 🙂

  3. Keep up the good work, my dear. Publication does not come easily, but it does come. I tell myself this every day!

  4. I enjoy your work and look forward to more!

  5. Very cool blog. I’ve enjoyed reading!

  6. Cool writing… Have you ever sat beneath a Tzejtel Tree (Coral Tree), where crows find easy, happy days…? A friend has been photographing some of late.

  7. On the subject of novel-writing, let me share something with you. I recently had an idea for a collaborative, performance-art method of novel writing. The idea was to take a chair, little table and old-fashioned typewriter into the street and sit with no plot in mind, but a sign inviting people to offer me suggestions. Every suggestion would be considered as I gradually created the story, incrementally, with the help of random people who never met each other. I wouldn’t do it where I live, in Liverpool, but somewhere with a more creative ambience, like Berlin.

  9. Hi Anna!
Your blog was very encouraging – I just started out blogging, and sharing my passion for writing and what you have on your blog was an inspiration 🙂 I am working on a novel at the moment as part of NaNoWriMo and feeling a little like I’m running out of steam, but seeing your work shows me it can be done! Very cool blog 🙂 hopefully mine will become as inspirational and read-worthy as yours one day 🙂
Keep up the good work!! 🙂
